Dr. Seyed Mahmoud Hosseini- PhD

I was born in 1970 and graduated from Isfahan University of Medical Sciences with a PhD degree in the field of physiology. From February 2007, I started my research and training activities in the physiology department of school of medicine of Mashhad and in the field of neuroscience.

To start, research setups were established to assess pain and lack of pain and laboratory models of seizure in rats and mice. After that, Morris water maze and passive avoidance test in the form of computer registration and models of memory impairment in rats and small mice was established to evaluate the mechanisms that are involved in memory and learning. Following that, performing additional biochemical tests on the brain and especially the hippocampus became possible after more accurate evaluations and with the help of other professors of departments of biochemistry and pharmacology. In the next stage, the setup for recording field potentials of mouse brain was purchased and established. Using this system, it is possible to evaluate the synaptic function and changes in synaptic activities by applying LTP induction, which completes behavioral and biochemical tests related to memory and learning. Along with these tests, elevated plus maze, open field and forced swimming test were recorded on computer and established. The majority of my activities are related to the field of memory and learning and involved mechanisms in this regard. The results of these evaluations are published in international journals. Moreover, most of my training activities are related to neurophysiology and cell physiology for PhD students of physiology and MSc students from other fields.
